I don’t know about you guys, but for me, cleaning the bathroom is one of the worst chores. I have come up with all sorts of weird ways to clean my bathtub from using a 3-gallon water jug to to a spray (which I end up shooting myself in the face with). After much trial and error, I have compiled the BEST ways to tackle your bathroom.
HEADS UP: Some of these are a bit weird but trust me, they really work!
Cleaning your shower
Reflecting back on my childhood, I remember my mom always going on about how her boyfriend would use a squeegee to clean his shower every time he used it. We would always giggle at the idea of it, but now I have come to realize how brilliant this cleaning method is! For those of you who aren’t sure what a squeegee is, it’s the stick device that you use to clean your car windows; it can almost always be found soaking in soapy water at your local gas station. At this point I am really kicking myself for not having trying this before.
If you are having trouble finding a way to keep your fixtures nice and shiny, look no further! Just take a quick trip to the part of your house where you keep your oil. Rub a tiny amount onto your fixture and all of your spotted worries will disappear!
Toilet water in the holder
Before, whenever I would reach for the toilet brush to take it out of its little holder, I would cringe thinking about the leftover water that has dripped from when I used it last. Every time I take that brush out, I know there is some sort of nasty surprise waiting for me. No one likes to mention gross stuff like this, but if you are experiencing this, you are not alone. At the very least I was in your shoes! To get rid of this nasty issue, all you have to do is tap off the excess water after using the brush and then place it carefully so that the toilet seat is pinching the handle of the toilet brush in place. As a bonus, I like to sprinkle a little lemon juice on top to ensure I don’t create a new kind of monster!
Sanitizing bath toys
Okay, so kids aren’t the only ones that have bath toys so no need to feel embarrassed if you are reading this just to figure out how to clean your rubber ducky. Clean ducks are VERY important; haven’t you seen the Dawn commercial? Anyways, in case you are wondering, we are not cleaning our bath toys with Dawn this time around. We are going to go with a green solution! If you don’t know this by now, I LOVE green cleaning methods and I am going to give you one of them here. What you want to do is grab a bucket and fill it with 75% vinegar and 25% water. Throw those cute little toys in there and let is soak overnight. Yes, that’s it! Easy, right?
Cleaning your toothbrush holders
So here is where you are going to have to make sure you use the right toothbrush holder to begin with. I HIGHLY recommend getting one that allows you to rest your toothbrush with the brush end at a downward angle. I am a bit of a neat freak at times and the thought of the water dripping down the sides of the brush weirds me out a bit. The MAIN thing you are going to want to focus on though with your toothbrush holder is making sure that is is DISHWASHER safe. That way all you have to do is throw it in with your dishes whenever you decide necessary!
Wiping down the walls
This is one of my cleaning habits that I get A LOT of grief over from people who I talk to about it. From my point of view though, walls need cleaning too! They absorb whatever we splash onto them as well as whatever is in the air! It is a pretty intimidating task if you think about wiping all the walls down with a cloth but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! What I like to do is take my mop (I use a cheapo Swiffer) and attach a green cleaning mopping pad to it. Next, all you have to do is give the walls a nice once over with your hand dandy wall cleaning stick!
